15 Then the Lord God took Adam and put him in the garden of Eden to tend (cultivate) and keep it.
Genesis 2:15 NKJV
What was God’s plan for humanity? To work and develop their gifts and use those gifts to bless the world with their labor (fruits).
God put a standard for every human being.
Work 6 days and Rest 1 day.
How many hours is 1 day? in today’s society, it is going toward 8 hour work day. However, remember in the past it was normal to work 10-14 hours a day.
So what would be considered a normal workweek for Christians?
Say between 48 hours – 84 hours
9 not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.2 Thessalonians 3:9-10 NKJV
11 For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.
2 Thessalonians 3:11-12 NKJV
So what does this means for us as Christians?
We are very quick in claiming scriptures about God’s provision and providing our needs. However, are we fulfilling God’s requirements?
Are you working 6 days a week?
Are you working at least 48 hours a week?
I believe that if Christians were willing to start following God’s instructions and start working at least 6 days – 60 hours a week .. they will have more than enough money to pay their bills and have some extra to give to charity…
Let me give some examples of what I believe is God’s standard for every Christian …
Say you have a job 5 days a week .. you can offer to do volunteer work for the church .. at least 1 more day?
If you are getting a social benefit .. are you using your 6 days in a way to contribute to society?
When you receive a pension .. how are you using your 6 days a week to contribute to society
You see God has given every person a gift and talent that was there to contribute to society. That will bring blessings to the earth.
However instead many Christians are wasting their time (this is a sin) in doing stuff that is not important. Bible calls it idleness…
Are you focused on using your time wisely instead of wasting it and be a blessing to society?
Use your gifts and talents for God’s glory.
God didn’t just create you to be a nobody.
God created a somebody.
When we as Christians start working 6 days a week. Where in your free time you are focusing on using your gifts to bless society and when an opportunity opens up you can maybe even start doing it full time. You will be amazed how God will start blessing you with an abundance…
